I don't like this or Sevens, but we have to admit that we are old now and the company is aimming for the new generations.

Smol Butt Cheeky • 2 years ago

Wow, someone with a functioning brain. You are a rare breed in this comment section my friend

Narsan • 2 years ago

well then i am lucky that i still have a child soul so i can enjoy this

theENTER • 2 years ago

yeah.... if were showing newcomers/children how meta decks like Drytron or Eldrich work, they are highly likely gonna quit yugioh lol XD

Midnight Lore • 2 years ago

Lol tbh, Yugioh was in my era at the time of birth but I recently got into Yugioh games due to loving the 5D's series.
Didn't take too long to catch up but holy hell is Eldrich annoying 😂

Ian Nava H • 2 years ago

yeahp
although that makes me wonder if there are children of 7 or around that age (remember, in theory, YuGiOh is a card game aimed for kids of 7 years old onwards), reading OCG Structures manga and what do they think of the game mechanics?
would htye completely ignored and just focus on the cool monsters and characters?

StygianSkies • 2 years ago

I'm not optimistic, but I haven't given up on this one quite yet. It's possible to have a kiddy baseline and still write a compelling narrative. That's kind of what Zexal was, after all

IStandAlone Roronoa Zoro • 2 years ago

Its very tough to admit this, but I am not so sure about that. I know kids in my neighbourhood who actually preferred the first Yugioh themselves and played the game like in Domino Battle City style.

My theory is that the new generation of 'mothers' made complaints about the darkness and goriness of the games, ever since the whole Shadow Game theme and the company finally gave in to their absurd demands to make it more colourful.

ThatMan666 • 2 years ago

All those oppose, I'm labeling you as Showa Scum or Heisei Hazer.

Hoshimiya Eiji • 2 years ago

I don’t want to be too damn negative at only the second episode (though I have every right to be, especially after sevens) but Yudias only summoning normal god damn monsters is way too boring and those 2 cards are presented as his aces which is terrible.

I hope the show can give him new aces and improve the dueling quality VERY soon because seeing the opponent tribute summoning a freakin 1700 Atk NORMAL monster so that Yudias can pull that win felt way too forced. As for positives Yuamu girl seems promising I hope her dueling next episode will be more enjoyable than these boring ass tutorials

Narsan • 2 years ago

i dont give a fuck about Normal/Effect Monsters, i am here to watch the monsters animation when they fight

knightwolf09 • 2 years ago

His Galaxy deck is a Normal Monster Beatdown deck. It literally centers around his powerful Normal Monsters. So better get used to them

Shmarfle • 2 years ago

The problem is that that quickly gets boring and fast. It makes for some rather uninteresting plot. Manabu's chemistry burn deck was much more interesting to watch in comparison. However, I will give the benefit of the doubt that these are tutorial episodes, and that Yudias will eventually evolve to a much more competent deck.

knightwolf09 • 2 years ago

You guys missed my point. I mean his deck literally centers around having powerful normal monsters on the field. Such as support cards that can revive or retrieve Normal Monsters, plus cards with effects if you happen to have a Normal Monster on the field. Kinda like how Tenyis function.

Shmarfle • 2 years ago

I mean that we just learned about effect monsters today. It would've been nice for Yudias to use his own effect monsters to help out his normal beatsticks. Clearly with how this is set up we'll learn about spells and traps next episode so I can excuse the fact they weren't used this episode, but it'd be nice if he summoned more than just vanilla monsters. Even Tenyis have effect monsters that support the use of non-effect monsters.

Ian Nava H • 2 years ago

I kinda appreciate to a degree that that deck:
1) is a Callback to Duel monsters' Duelist Kingdom's Normal monster beatdown decks characters like Yugi, Joey and even Kaiba used but WITHOUT the RPG mechanics before the game became real
2) This deck screams "rookie" which Yuudias obviously is

So i get the reasoning for that deck.

I do hope Yuumu and Yuuhi have decks with actual effects though

Hoshimiya Eiji • 2 years ago

Nope no one can and should get used to the most boring ass deck possible

Gilad Ohayon • 2 years ago

No need to rush, i'm pretty sure things will get better little by little.

Hoshimiya Eiji • 2 years ago

No need to RUSH indeed but sadly this is not the case and we have Rush duels, sevens and its successor(s)

KeRoMa • 2 years ago

I said this before on the first episode and I'll say it again, for those who are complaining about how Yu-Gi-Oh of today isn't like Yu-Gi-Oh of old, well, probably gonna have to deal with it going forward cause the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise is/are taking the same road Pokemon did recently with how they're catering to children and not the people who grew up on it (Pokemon has Sun & Moon and now Journeys/ Yu-Gi-Oh has Sevens and now Go Rush) Unless they make a separate anime for the older fans I don't see Yu-Gi-Oh going back to the formula of Yugi/Judia etc days. No matter how much people complain on random anime websites it's not gonna change the direction the show is taking, You'd have to hit companies who are in control of the YU-Gi-Oh anime/franchise in the pocket book to make them notice that the old fans are feeling alienated (no pun intended)
I prefer the old themes too but at least This anime so far is more tolerable then Sevens was. Don't forget anime like Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon are there to advertise the cards games, guess what, they want new blood to migrate into playing their games and the best way to do that is to make an anime that appeals to them aka teaching them the basics and still being relatable as the audience they're catering to are 12 & under so course the main characters be around that age to be relatable, which makes it not relatable for the people who grew up on these franchises
This type of Yu-Gi-Oh gonna be around I am afraid so gonna need to get use to it or maybe just drop the anime portion of Yu-Gi-Oh till it changes

Shadow Moon • 2 years ago

the whole issue with this series is that it's essentially a regression rather than a progression. with og yugioh to gx, it was more like the game was growing.
but with sevens to go rush, it's more like the game was kept unnaturally stagnant and regressed rather than progressed.
pokemon has been doing the opposite of this, in SM ash became the champion for the first time in decades (barring the orange islands) in way that made up for his prior losses
https://i.imgur.com/6eIDKHO.jpg?=#bringbackimgembeds
while in Journeys he's been beating E4 members & champion-level trainers to the point that he took down wallace who is at champion level mostly offscreen.

KeRoMa • 2 years ago

Yeah, true, but I was just using the Pokemon as an example how these anime producers are making their characters look younger and anime more focus on new blood, yes Pokemon hasn't regressed which does differ from Yu-Gi-Oh series lately, But my statement wasn't about if this anime plot line was good, it's simplified ofcourse for a younger audience now, FYI not clicking the link

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 2 years ago

The only regress we have to deal with Pokemon is that Satoshi/Ash just keeps getting regress to a dumb 10 year old kid which he had a lot of character development in Johto season and regress a little in Horen but still developing through all of Horen but went down hill as soon Battle Frontier started and got a bit worst in Sinnoh region and so forth.
While in Yu-Gi-Oh it's a different character so it can be a little lenient on that.

Midnight Lore • 2 years ago

Anyone liked Yugioh Vrains?

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 2 years ago

Yes

Midnight Lore • 1 year ago

Ayee! Show need some more love

Albedio • 2 years ago

if its like pokemon then the main lead wouldnt grow u at all.been like 25 years but has ash even aged 5 years?

donicx • 2 years ago

To be fair for Sun and moon the art style change was done for animation purposes since simpler designs lead to more animated characters.

Daemon Redfox • 2 years ago

this will take like 10 episodes before we have more interesting duels like sevens :v
at least we have the new sougetsu, meow :v

Shmarfle • 2 years ago

Manabu is now my favorite character in this entire series. I just have a bias for cats since I have two lovable ones at home.

SlayTheRapper • 1 year ago

Knew I recognized them, where is otes/yuga mask? Lol imagine o.o

White Seal Ryu • 2 years ago

Sougetsu is calling yuuhi "young master"... So does this mean that yuuga and asana hooked up? I mean, we can see the similarities between yuuhi and yuuga in the hair mostly soooo....?

Ian Nava H • 2 years ago

Would explain why Galiant stays with them and behaves like a nice grandpa to them

although that makes me wonder "would yuuga and asana be their parents... or grandparents?" if the latter, would make me wonder, who would asana and yuuga's hypothethical child marry with to have yuuhi and yuumu?

Annecy Change • 2 years ago

Lol, men in black in yugioh.

Infinity Ch. • 2 years ago

For this season I think it is right to conclude that Oudou Yuga ended up in a relationship with Mutsuba Asuna which explains why Galient is there and why do they have the same last name with the Main Character of Sevens.I mean Romin definitely suitable to paired up with Luke and
Asuna is the only one who is good to pair with Yuga.

But damn,I really want to see the main characters of sevens on this series especially Yuga since I didn't see his appearance during the last episode of the Sevens :>

Albedio • 2 years ago

if yuudias doesnt want to tribute summon he better not put any high level monster in his deck.or make sure he has special summoning spell cards that can legitly summon those high level monsters.
wow 8.88 million people inside a shrinked spaceship?what if the mik destroyed it before it can revert to full size?those people are sheep?ok to stay cooped up in there chanting yuudias, yuudias! while their leader is the only one experiencing life outside?

Spoderman • 2 years ago

sevens is better than this show so far,

Ian Nava H • 2 years ago

Calling it now. Neil's Cat-themed assistant somehow had a daughter, Gakuto married too, and he had a son, and those 2 hypothehtical children married, had a child and Manabu Sougetsu was born as a result
ALTERNATIVELY Gakuto had a daughter and the cat-themed assistant had a son but still. same result

Trypo Eren • 2 years ago

show us whats under yudiases hat

other than that it was mid

RokuSora • 2 years ago

I'm not sure if Manabu having the same voice actor, using a disguise very similar to Gakuto and hairclips at the very same spot as Gakuto was intentional or not XD Cuz this was literally something I wanted entire sevens - for Gakuto to have more duels and screentime and would you look at that, his emo boy in black with cat obsession took his place XD He is a dork and I like him already, as well as his talking space cat. I guess he'll be kinda like Team Rocket, constantly trying to snatch Yuudias like they are trying to get Pikachu.

Opening was pretty solid, classy shonen opening with confused alien, curious twins and lots of other things. Pretty curious what is a the blond haired's role in this, probably just being a rival or competing with him. Kinda interesting Yuuamu seemingly has dragon themed deck, that would make her the first female with such theme, can't wait to see her duel next week and you bet my expectations will be high since Sevens really did a good job when it comes to female characters and Yuuamu so far has been unique and interesting.

LordLad666 • 2 years ago

His last name is Sogetsu the same as Gakuto. So Manabu is most likely his son

Nero32 • 2 years ago

Considering how old the old cast is, mostly Manabu is Gakuto's grandson, aas well as Yuhi and Yuamu Yuga's grandkids.

RokuSora • 2 years ago

Welp that explains it XD Still funny that they both have the same voice actor

Nero32 • 2 years ago

I mean, in some cases it's like that. Though, the one exampel I remember is Gaito/Light from Buddyfight/Buddyfight Ace.

Albedio • 2 years ago

the only manabu coming to mind is manabu sotoin, that bishounen tantei.

Drake Storm • 2 years ago

So like…. Does no one realize the MIK Leader is likely the Grandson of that one Duelist from… I think 6th Elementary in Sevens, with a Draw addiction , who had to constantly draw cards when dueling was banned?

It also seems somewhat related to Gakuto, as he shares the same last name… Very interesting so far, despite everyone treating this like a kids series, I’m more interested in the backstory here, than the duels.

LordLad666 • 2 years ago

Manabu (kid in black with the cat) isnt related to the draw obsessed kid you're talking about.
1. manabu shares gakutos last name, face and voice
2. the draw obsessed kid is now an elderly adult seen at 9:25 in the stairwell

Darkerooz • 2 years ago

this is so bad bro i cant if you like you are below the age of 12
please just drop this dumb format of it being elementary school children and plots like this and give us lore like vrains or even arc-v at this point this is just getting ridiculous, my favorite card game is litteraly being spitted on by these dumb ideas to try and attract new players when it makes more players leave as the anime is now garbage

loyal serena • 2 years ago

its not being "spitted on" at all. 😭 the anime doesnt really make players leave, its the main card game. cry harder.
